BALANCECUT: In-Process Balancing and Finishing Solutions for High-Precision Machining
The BALANCECUT project aims to improve the manufacturing of very precise mechanical parts used in sectors such as aerospace and medical technology. Today, producing these parts requires highly skilled manual work, which is increasingly hard to find. The project develops new machine solutions that can perform this work automatically, with higher accuracy and fewer errors.
Objectives:
The goal is to integrate two key steps directly into the machines: balancing (to reduce vibrations of fast-rotating parts) and finishing (to obtain very smooth surfaces). This will save time, reduce dependence on rare skilled workers, and limit waste.
Expected results:
By the end of the project, working prototypes will be tested in real industrial conditions. SMEs will be able to produce more reliable parts faster, with lower energy use and costs, improving their competitiveness.
