RMMR 2026: Join Us in Genk on 4 December

On 4 December 2026, the EU Interreg FIT group will host the Regenerative Medicine Meuse-Rhine (RMMR) Conference at Thor Central in Genk, Belgium. The event will bring together researchers, companies, clinicians, patients and patient organisations working in regenerative medicine across the Meuse-Rhine region, with a particular focus on new therapies for muscle disease and muscle loss.

What To Expect

The morning will open with a keynote lecture by Prof. Giulio Cossu, Professor of Regenerative Medicine at the University of Manchester and a pioneer of stem cell therapy for muscular dystrophy. This will be followed by talks from leading experts in the field, alongside patient stories that remind us why this work matters.

In the afternoon, a foyer will be transformed into the Impact Marketplace, taking you on the journey from research to patient to industry through posters, company stands and live demonstrations. The day will close with live music and drinks.

About The Organisers

Fitness Improving Technology (FIT) is an EU Interreg-funded project led by Prof. Bert Smeets at Maastricht University. It unites universities in Maastricht, Leuven, Liège, Hasselt and Aachen with industry partners Revatis, ReWrite, Scinus and Milocron. Together, we are developing muscle stem cell therapies based on patients' own cells, for rare muscle diseases, muscle loss linked to ageing and cancer, sports injuries and heart muscle disease. FIT is the main organiser of RMMR 2026.

MERLN (Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine) at Maastricht University will contribute to RMMR 2026 through research talks and a technology showcase at the marketplace.
