S-Seat 2.0 - Smart hybrid seating orthosis for the analysis and optimization of fitting of longterm pathologies in need of tailer made seating device.
The S-Seat 2.0 project addresses a critical limitation in the orthopaedic seating sector, where custom seating systems for users with severe motor impairments are still produced through manual, craftsmanship-driven processes. These workflows rely heavily on subjective assessment, resulting in long iteration cycles (8–10 weeks), inconsistent fit quality, and increased risk of complications such as pressure injuries and postural misalignment.
The project aims to modernise this process by reducing reliance on manual methods, shortening development cycles to 4–6 weeks, and enabling scalable, high-quality production supported by structured data and quality assurance. This project is managed by Spronken Innovation.
